SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP SERVICES
PERMANENT MAKE UP
What is semi-permanent makeup?
Semi permanent makeup (SPMU) also known as micro pigmentation, cosmetic tattooing or dermapigmentation is a form of temporary tattooing, where advanced pigments are inserted into the epidermis layer of the skin using very fine needles. It can also be used to visibly reduce scars, reconstruct areola complexes and cover balding or thinning areas of the scalp. Clients usually choose to have SPMU in the form of shading for eyebrows, eyelids or lips to enhance their looks and to minimize the need for daily makeup application.
Semi-permanent makeup inks, unlike tattoo inks, are less apt to migrate, turn blue or streak. SPMU artist deposit pigment into the upper layer of the skin (papillary layer. Traditional tattoo artists implant the pigment deeper into the dermis (reticular layer).
What is Ombre Powder Brows?
Introducing Ombre Powder Brows, the revolutionary technique that will redefine your brow game and enhance your natural beauty. This professional service is designed to create perfectly shaped and softly shaded eyebrows, giving you a polished and glamorous look that lasts. Ombre Powder Brows is a semi-permanent makeup technique that involves depositing pigment into the upper layers of the skin to achieve a soft, powdery gradient effect. The ombre effect means that the inner part of the brow is lighter and gradually gets darker further out towards the tail. This results in a three-dimensional look. This technique differs from traditional microblading, as it focuses on creating a filled-in, powdered look rather than individual hair strokes. The result is a beautifully defined brow with a gradient effect that mimics the appearance of expertly applied brow makeup.

What is the process?
During your Ombre Powder Brows session, our highly skilled and certified artist will guide you through a step-by-step process to achieve your desired brow look.
Here's what you can expect:
Consultation: All our treatments are inclusive of a consultation on the day. We begin with a thorough consultation to understand your desired brow shape, colour preferences, and overall expectations. Our artist will assess your natural brow shape and discuss how to enhance it using the ombre powder technique.
Custom Design: Based on your facial features, skin tone, and personal preferences, our artist will meticulously design your perfect brow shape. This involves measuring precise proportions, considering symmetry, and creating a natural arch that complements your unique facial structure. This process usually takes 30 minutes
Color Selection: We will work with you to select the ideal pigment shade that matches your natural brow color or desired enhancement. Our extensive range of high-quality advanced pigments ensures we can achieve the most flattering and natural-looking results.
Numbing: To ensure your comfort throughout the process, a topical numbing cream is applied to the brow area before the procedure. This helps minimise any potential discomfort during the procedure. During the procedure, secondary numbing is also used as needed.
Application: Using a digital tattoo machine, our technician will gently create a soft, pixelated effect by strategically depositing the pigment into the upper layers of your skin. Unlike a traditional tattoo, only the very tip of the needle is used to create thoughts of fine dots in combination with a gentle technique. This process is precise and allows for controlled pigment placement, resulting in the beautiful ombre powder effect. This process usually takes 2 hours.
Post-Procedure Care: Aftercare instructions will be provided to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results. It's essential to follow these instructions diligently, including avoiding excessive moisture, sun exposure, and touching the treated area.

How should you prepare for Ombre Powder Brows?
There are several things you need to do before going in for your ombre powder brows. All of these steps should be implemented 1-3 weeks before the actual appointment happens. Some of the steps are longer than others but we will go over that here.
The point of before-care is to make sure the skin is in the best state possible for applying ombre powder brows. You don’t want your skin irritated and inflamed.
Things to avoid consuming before your ombre powder brow procedure:
* Do not take any Advil or Ibuprofen before your appointment. It may be tempting to take this for pain relief and to help with inflammation, but both of these over-the-counter drugs naturally thin your blood and cause excess bleeding. When bleeding occurs during the procedure, your skin can become even more inflamed, and the pigment is less likely to deposit into the skin which can affect colour retention as they are healing.
* While they are safe to take after the procedure, it needs to be avoided beforehand to ensure there is no additional bleeding.
* You will also not want to consume any alcohol 1-2 days before getting your ombre powder brows. This also applies to any other kind of tattoo that you get. Alcohol thins your blood, so if you consume it 24-48 hours before your procedure you are likely to bleed more.
* Make sure you are looking at the vitamins and minerals that you take as well. Some popular supplements to take are fish oils and vitamin E. Fish oils can help with brain function, reduce anxiety, and help dry skin. Vitamin E is also great for the skin and can be taken either orally or applied topically. You will want to avoid taking these supplements for at least a week before coming in for your ombre powder brows. The reason you want to avoid taking them is that they are altering your skin, even though they help repair it. We don’t want the skin to be compromised in any way.
* Another natural blood thinner is caffeine. You will want to avoid grabbing Starbucks or Tim Hortons before coming into your appointment. Remember many teas and sodas also contain caffeine, so you will also want to avoid these beverages.
* It is best to stick with water the day of your tattoo and also make sure you have something to eat.Keeping in mind the whole process takes about 2.5-3 hours, Coming in on an empty stomach can not only make you feel unwell during the appointment, but it can make you lightheaded as well. We want you hydrated and fed with at least a light snack before you come in for your procedure!
What NOT to do before your ombre powder brow tattoo:
* You will want to stop getting botox at least 3-4 weeks before you get your ombre powder brow tattoos. Botox is injected with a needle into the areas around the brow which can cause inflammation. The area around where you get botox becomes very tight - if we were to apply a tattoo over top of that area it would cause too much inflammation.
* You also do not want to get any facials 2-3 weeks before getting ombre powder brows. Many facials compromise the outer layer of the skin - exfoliating any dead skin cells away. While this helps to rejuvenate the skin, it is also compromised. During this more delicate state, you do not want to be applying a tattoo and causing an injury to the skin.
* Do not tan for about 2 weeks before the procedure and avoid getting a sunburn. When you have a sunburn, your skin is essentially injured. We cannot apply a tattoo onto the skin that is already injured as it will be very painful and your skin is already compromised. Showing up to your appointment with facial sunburns will result in a rescheduling of your appointment.
* You will also want to avoid doing anything to your eyebrows at least one week before your ombre powder brows. This includes waxing, threading, plucking, tinting, and laser treatments. Anything that will remove hairs from your eyebrow area you will want to avoid. You also want to avoid tinting because often your eyebrows are cleaned up and plucked when you get them tinted, and the dyes from tinting can sometimes irritate the skin. We want to avoid irritation to the skin around the eyebrows as much as possible!
What Aftercare is there?
Aftercare is critical, and taking care of your new brows is extremely important for longevity and best results. The following must be avoided 14 days post-procedure:
* Touching of the eyebrow area except for rinsing and applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab.
* Applying any lotion, or makeup to your eyebrow area
* Picking, peeling or scratching of the brow area to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment.
* Sun tanning. Exposure to UV/UVA rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in colour and premature fading.
* Hot sauna, hot bath, long showers, or jacuzzi
* Increased sweating. Salt in our sweat will pull the pigment out of the skin and cause patchy healing.
* Swimming/Submerging brows in water
* Practising sports
* Heavy household cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris.
* Driving in an open-air vehicle such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles.
* Facials, lasers, chemical treatments, peels, and any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area
* Drinking alcohol in excess as it may lead to slow healing of wounds.
What is the healing Timeline?
Your brows will heal in 4 stages:
1st Stage (Week 1) - Dark, Bold, and Unnatural.
Immediately after the procedure begin to dab the brow area every 15 minutes for 2 hours with a clean damp cotton round. Brows will start to develop a thin layer of scab. Make sure your hands are very clean, and gently apply the post-care ointment with a cotton swab and clean hands. Please be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. This can be done twice a day: morning and night. The brows should not appear greasy, glossy, or shiny which happens if you applied too much. This can suffocate the skin and delay healing. Never apply on wet/damp brows and continue putting on the ointment until your brows are no longer scabbing.
2nd Stage (Week 2) - Itchy, Peeling, Patchy
The scab is starting to feel tight and dry. Itching and flaking will occur during this week. This is the beginning stages of scabs peeling off. Avoid picking or scratching as it can pull off scabs prematurely and cause patchy results or scarring. Continue to cleanse the brows twice a day, blotting dry and then applying healing ointment.
3rd Stage (Week 3) - Light and Uneven
Scabs are done peeling. Brows will appear very light after scabs come off (the lightness will vary for each individual). This is called the ghosting phase but the colour will continue to surface and get darker up to 6 weeks. Brows are safe from water and clients may return to their normal skincare routine.
4th Stage (Week 4) - Brows Get Darker and Fuller
At this stage, the colour of the brows is complete and all redness is gone. Brows have fully healed. A complimentary touch-up will be needed to make proper adjustments after at least 6 weeks.

Why is the skin on our lips different?
The outer layer of your skin is called the epidermic, and it has a protective covering called the stratum corneum. The difference between face and lip skin is that the stratum corneum on you lips is far thinner than it is anywhere else on your body. Your lips also don’t have any sebaceous glands - these glands keep your skin moisturized. The skin on your lips don’t have any follicles either. This is a characteristic it shares only with the palm of your hands and soles of your feet. The skin on your lips is different from the rest of your body because it is thinner and more delicate. The skin on your face can be up to 16 cell layers thick while the skin on your lips is only 3-5 layers thick. This means your blood vessels are more apparent, giving your lips their pink or red colour.
How should you prepare for Lip Blushing?
There are several things you need to do before going in for your lip blushing. All of these steps should be implemented 1-3 weeks before the actual appointment happens. The point of before-care is to make sure the skin is in the best state possible for applying lip blush. You don’t want your skin irritated and inflamed.
The first thing you should do to prepare for your appointment is to begin exfoliating and moisturizing your lips 1 week prior to your appointment. Your lips cannot be dry for the appointment. You can use a lip scrub or create your own by using salt or sugar mixed in coconut oil. For the week leading up to the appointment, you must moisturize your lips as much as possible. At least 2x daily, gently exfoliate your lips and moisturize with your favorite balm.
Cold Sores?
Cold sores are a risk of lip blush tattoo only if you have had them in the past. If you have had a cold sore in the past, we advise for you to go to the doctor for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure as a preventative. An outbreak can cause loss of pigment. Ask your doctor about Valtrex. We ask that our clients take their prescribed antiviral medication 5 days in total - 2 days before and 3 days after the procedure. You can still have lip blushing done! We just want to ensure you get the best results possible. Consult with your doctor for any additional questions.*
Things to avoid consuming before your lip blush procedure:
* Do not take any Advil or Ibuprofen before your appointment. It may be tempting to take this for pain relief and to help with inflammation, but both of these over-the-counter drugs naturally thin your blood and cause excess bleeding. When bleeding occurs during the procedure, your skin can become even more inflamed, and the pigment is less likely to deposit into the skin which can affect colour retention as they are healing.

Fish oils can help with brain function, reduce anxiety, and help dry skin. Vitamin E is also great for the skin and can be taken either orally or applied topically. You will want to avoid taking these supplements for at least a week before coming in for your ombre powder brows. * Another natural blood thinner is caffeine. You will want to avoid grabbing Starbucks or Tim Hortons before coming into your appointment. Remember many teas and sodas also contain caffeine, so you will also want to avoid these beverages.

We want you hydrated and fed with at least a light snack before you come in for your procedure!
What NOT to do before your lip blush tattoo:
* You will want to stop getting lip filler or injections in or around the lips at least 4 weeks before you get your lip blush tattoo.
* You also do not want to get any facials 2-3 weeks before getting lip blush. Many facials compromise the outer layer of the skin - exfoliating any dead skin cells away. While this helps to rejuvenate the skin, it is also compromised. During this more delicate state, you do not want to be applying a tattoo and causing an injury to the skin.

We cannot apply a tattoo onto the skin that is already injured as it will be very painful and your skin is already compromised. Showing up to your appointment with facial sunburns will result in a rescheduling of your appointment.
What aftercare is there?
* For the first day, you will want to blot your tattoo every few hours with a damp cotton round -
morning, afternoon, and evening.
* Your lips will be swollen for the first 24 hours and take about 5 days to heal. During this time, your lips will shed, feel dry, and look patchy. The colour will fade about 40% after the first few days. You may ice the skin if it is feeling tender after the procedure. Wrap an ice pack or a ziplock bag of ice in a napkin and place it on the area for 30-second increments.
* Apply healing ointment on your lips 3 timesl times a day. This should be done for at least 14 days post-treatment. Do not allow lips to become dry but do not overdo the ointment. This may interfere with healing. Just pat a rice-grain size of ointment on the lip and do not rub in. Always use a clean Q-tip or clean/sanitized fingers to apply ointment to the lips area. This will reduce the risk of infection.
* Every individual’s skin is different; therefore, the initial application is always applied conservatively. The final color can be adjusted during a second session appointment. The lip blushing procedure is not complete after the first initial session. A second session appointment is highly recommended approximately 6-8 weeks after your first initial application to ensure longevity and best results.
* Please remember that individual results will vary from person to person.
* Though rare, infection is possible if aftercare is not handled correctly and with caution. If you see signs of infection, such as persistent increased redness or swelling, fever, drainage, or oozing, please contact your doctor immediately.
* DO NOT EAT SPICY, OILY, ACIDIC, OR GREASY FOODS.
* DO NOT STRETCH YOUR LIPS.
* AVOID EATING LARGE BURGERS, SANDWICHES, ETC. PLEASE CUT THEM INTO SMALL BITES.
* WHEN YOUR LIPS START TO SHED, DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR PULL ON THE SKIN.
* DO NOT GET SALINE WATER/SWEAT ON YOUR LIPS. IT MAY CAUSE THE INK TO BE PULLED FROM THE SKIN.
* APPLY OINTMENT, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY, FOR 14 DAYS TO KEEP YOUR LIPS MOISTURIZED. PLEASE GENTLY DAB/PRESS INTO THE SKIN INSTEAD OF RUBBING.
*DRINK LIQUIDS THROUGH A STRAW UNTIL YOUR LIPS ARE DONE PEELING
* AVOID GETTING YOUR LIPS WET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. APPLY OINTMENT BEFORE BRUSHING YOUR TEETH.
* DO NOT USE ANY SOAPS OR CHEMICALS ON YOUR LIPS. BE CAREFUL WHEN WASHING YOUR FACE. USE A WASHCLOTH TO WASH YOUR FACE TO BETTER CONTROL ANY LIQUID SUBSTANCE.
USE A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF NON-WHITENING TOOTHPASTE. USE A STRAW WHEN SWISHING WATER.
* DO NOT EXPOSE YOUR LIPS TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT OR TANNING BEDS. SINCE THIS
IS NEW SKIN, ITS PRONE TO SUNBURN WHICH COULD DAMAGE THE COLOUR AND CAUSE SCARRING.
* DO NOT SMOKE FOR AT LEAST ONE WEEK.
* AVOID KISSING FOR 2-3 DAYS.
* KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN AND AVOID TOUCHING YOUR NEW LIPS UNTIL THEY ARE DONE HEALING.
Healing Schedule + Expectations
You should expect to lose approximately 40-60% of the initial colour during the healing process. In approximately 3 days, your lips will appear lighter. After about 2 weeks, the colour will gradually resurface. They will appear softer once you have completely healed. Lip blushing technique can yield a more bold lipstick effect, or a natural “lip tint” result based on client preference.
DAY 1 - Lips are darker and intense than expected healed results right after the procedure. During the next hour, lips will continue appearing darker than the expected results. All clients will have moderate swelling and tightness after the procedure.Immediately after the procedure begin to dab the lip area every 15 minutes with a clean damp cotton round. The night of, make sure your hands are very clean, and gently apply the post-care ointment with a cotton swab and clean hands. Please be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. This can be done twice a day: morning and night. Never apply on wet/damp lips and continue putting on the ointment until your lips are no longer scabbing.
DAY 2 - Swelling will subside. Lips will feel a little tender and tight. Lips will be dry. Continue to blot lips with damp cotton round if there is still lymph fluid coming out.
DAY 3 - Shedding begins. Lips will start to lighten in colour.
DAY 4 - 6 - Lips will continue to lighten and shed.
DAY 5 - 7 - Shedding should be complete.
WEEK 2 - 4 - The colour will lighten then darken day by day. The true colour will surface at the one-month mark. Your lips will heal in three stages: Too dark - Too light - Just right. This takes one month to occur from start to finish.
*If there are any freckles on the lips, they may appear darker during the healing process but will fade back to normal once healing is complete.
*For those who have a thin, white border around their lips, it may appear darker (like lip liner), but will fade and can be corrected during the
second session.
